Recovery - you are a cherry picker.
i never believed that in 1975 or by the end of the 20th century, we would see the great tribulation occur.
some witnesses would listen to fred franz' talks where he clearly told his audience that 1975 was the end of 6000 years and the beginning of the jubilee....or something like that.. was there something that you never truly accepted that you were supposed to believe as a jehovah's witness?.
Jehovah hates birthdays, college, beards, prohibited sex between married ones, etc. But i kept parroting the words from WT anyway.
Ironically, I "realized" their reasoning was plain weak, which is why I failed to believe, but I thought they must be right. So I proved to myself what they taught using good research and proper reasoning techniques.
That didn't last. lol.
after weeks of break, please, welcome band on the run and wish her well.
for shamus100, more waiting is order.
i think, he is having a well deserved break.. .
Wilkommen!
i posted on another thread about a couple of my experiences of meeting the governing body while i was in brooklyn.
i wanted to see if anyone else had any experiences along these same lines.
i met most of the ones that were current during the 2001-2003 years.
BTW lohengren, Herd never confided in me about what he is/was experiencing.
I am a goofball. When I arrived a Bethel, I pulled pranks and such and had regular meetings with brothers from Bethel Office. I came to be known for these pranks amongst overseers.
I then started getting speechs from older black brothers about being black in bethel. They were explicity honest, and told he now I needed to act if I was to make it, and progress at Bethel.
Once Sam Herd and I started talking, he gave me the speech, with gruesome detail of all his years in the org, even up until he was in Bethel. He dismissed it, because things won't be perfect until new system, he said. He never came out to say anything, I put 2 and 2 together. Then I started to notice what he was talkin about...
my 97 year old grandmother died last week.
she was actually born and raised a jw.
her mother (my great grandmother) was a russelite.
Magwitch - I am sorry for the loss of "grandma". Its sad losing grandparents, because they've been around....... forever.
I agree that not ALL JW's waste their life. We all live to make the most of what we have and what we think is correct, no matter the belief. And she did that as a JW.
I compare the org to a bullet. Some people get shot, some die. But at times, they survive and if you take the bullet out, they will become a vegetable or die.
Some need to keep the bullet.
part 3 (which is where the actual meeting begins) is finished.
it took my computer hours and hours to render and upload it!!
anyway, this is what i just posted on my youtube channel:.
I truly respect how you handled this. During mine, I got too emotional. Not sad, just angry. I felt like I could have done 10x better to at least make them think. Hindsight is always 20/20. Nevetheless, you had your meeting on lock. Good job!
1) Elders are NOT supposed to hold judicial committees in a KH. It is supposed to be away from where any 'passing by friends' can see. It seems like you passed by some random brothers walking to the JC meeting, and behind the blinds there is movement by other friends. Then a meeting started? To be honest though, I'm not sure if that was an unwritten rule or stated in a letter (before I became an elder), but every body of elders I was a part of were very adamant about following this rule.
2) If Jehovah can live it, why can't you? - I would have responded that, any religion can ask the same. Catholics (whom are dispicable to JW's) are still going strong and continually claim to be followers of Christ . Obviously Jehovah can live with that and has since around 3rd century, but does it mean they have Jehovah's blessing and approval?
3) It is amazing they actually listened. I never got more than 30 seconds of uninterrupted talk time.
4) Obviously (according to JW's), Jehovah blessed Russell because of his heart, not because of his teachings, which were wrong. But now that teachings have changed and assumed to be correct, heart doesn't really matter, as long as you follow their teachings? Double standard. Either way, they were set up to win....
there's a lot.. one rule that is dumb is that a brother must wear a suit for a sunday public talk that he is giving.
any other time, the brother could wear a suit coat with a different pair of pants and not be counseled for it.. another dumb idea is that you cannot date a person unless you seriously might marry them.
if you're on a date, you were supposed to always have a chaperone and holding hands might not be allowed as well as sitting together.. what other dumb rules and ideas can you add?.
Field service equivalent to exercise.
